A delicious black bean burger filled with an explosion of southwest flavors.
For our family, dinner needs to be put together easily and quickly. I don’t have a lot of time to follow steps in between watching our two children, who are constantly looking for something to get into. I just don’t.
Sure, I would love to throw a four-course meal on the table every night or even make homemade lasagna from scratch, but it isn’t happening in this household. Nope. It’s just not.
Black bean burgers are not only convenient but are healthy as well. Beans are known to be a high source of protein so we use them for my “I’m not going to eat meat” kind of daughter.
All you do is throw the ingredients into a food processor.
That’s right, no cooking on the stove, literally throw into your food processor…
Easy enough right? No sauteing onions, or veggies…just dump in ingredients and then form into burgers.
Bake and serve on top a bed of kale with fresh avocado and salsa.
The taste is amazing. I used a packet of southwest spice and didn’t even have to pull out anything else. Simply Organic is my choice of packet and is USDA Organic approved. Not to mention, spot on with their spices! <–Time saving tip!
I also used canned black beans to save on time instead of cooking them myself. *Bonus tip*
You could also put the burger on a roll, add cabbage or any toppings of your choice. The flavors work together quite nice and will want to send you flying south for sure! I will admit, when I told hubby we are having black bean burgers, he rolled his eyes. After he tasted one, he asked for another. Glad its hubby approved!
The recipe made eight burgers so I threw the leftovers in the freezer. Just another time-saving, meal-on-hand, thought. 😉

- 1-2 tbsp water (to get the mixture moving)
- 2 tbsp southwest taco seasning
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet with non-stick spray or aluminum foil.
- Throw all the ingredients in the blender. Use 1-2 tbsp of water to get the mixture moving if having a difficult time. I used all 2 tbs.
- Form into patties. And bake for 30 minutes. Let stand for ten minutes and they will become more dense and burger-like.
