Food For Thought

Hi and welcome to Mama’s Blissful Bites! I’ve been writing this blog for almost four years now (on and off) and have always loved it. It has felt like home to me from the beginning.

You haven’t seen it for a while since it crashed – I had theme errors, plug-in issues, you name it! I wanted to fix it badly but didn’t know how so I asked for help. It seemed to work for a little bit, then BOOM, it was gone again…

Apparently money talks and this baby is back up and running and…. so are my dreams.

I initially started this blog as a food blog  – to include all food, healthy or not. As I started my fitness journey, I also started to grow. My eyes have opened and become more aware of the world that surrounds me.

I became more aware of my consumption of food after I had two horrible sicknesses, both still undiagnosed. The cause for my heart palpitations, the cause of my horrific vertigo that would leave me on bed rest for weeks, the cause for my coldness, feeling numb in my hands and feet, tiredness… are still a mystery. But one thing is for sure, I know I’m getting better each day by improving my food intake. I see it. I feel it. I know it’s real.

It may sound odd but then again, maybe not so much. Caution has been thrown to the wind regarding food dyes, additives, GMO’s, BPA’s etc.  One day, lying in bed for three weeks, I picked up a saltine cracker and looked at it, I mean really looked at it. “What is it?” I questioned. It doesn’t come from a tree, not out of the ground, how is this thing made and why does it taste like cardboard? I could feel it making me worse. All the salt was having havoc on my body. That was the day, I started to question it all.

My purpose to have this blog up and running again is to share with you that whole foods can and are delicious. I want to give you the tools that have helped me make this jump and create recipes that you can’t wait to get your hands on, talk about how exciting it is to get your energy back or pig out on food that make your body glow gold! Yeah, whole foods and being gluten free is kind of just like that. 🙂

In addition to transitioning myself, I have made it my mission to help transition my family. I’m a stay-at-home mom to two small children that I of course, cherish and love. We started a gluten free diet to see if it helped my son and needless to say, it has unexpectedly also helped me in a lot of ways. It is easier in our household to all go gluten-free than to have his and her options available, so we all took the plunge. (Even if they don’t realize it!)

Three fun facts about me:

I love the outdoors – from hiking to kayaking to fishing and everything in between.

I am a Certified RRCA Running coach and Co-Leader for the Moms Run This Town team in our county.

I met my husband my senior year of high school and here we still are. (love bugs!)

I have taught healthy food classes to intimate groups and now I’m ready to share my knowledge with you.  I have big dreams and can’t wait to open new roads.

Be sure to sign up for the newsletter as each week a new baby step is introduced to the Whole Foods, Gluten Free Challenge! Thank you for being here.

Have a great day,

Amber
