Tracking Miles Calendar #10k #running

All day today, I could not get focused. Mr E. has been getting up at 5:50 am, which is normally my time to get up. But it’s just that. My wake up time, not his. He’s usually a 8ish bird…wonder what happened there.

It actually took me two hours to get focused to take the kiddos to Sunday school, but we made it there, nevertheless with coffee in hand.

Afterwards, we headed to one of my favorite breakfast places, The Open Door Cafe, and I had a FABULOUS Power House.

It put me in a food coma. Have you ever had one of those? I turned into Sleeping Beauty and needed a nap when I got home….

I was out and not interested in anything but my full belly and …uhm, sleeping.

By 4pm, I finally talked myself into getting up and moving. Would you believe I was still full? It’s the honest truth, I was stuffed like a piggy.

Something you may not know about me, but I’m willing to share a little.

I like love competition.

With that being said, I feel I’m a pretty good competitor and rarely a poor loser. I had no idea I had such a fighter in me until the year of 2004 when I started Weight Watchers at work. It was a bunch of us girls and I just “had to achieve” the most weight loss each week. It was a burning desire and a pressure that I had no clue where it came from, but started my journey. I can push myself further when I know I have competition, normal right? I hope so!

To light a candle under my ass, I had to light one under my hubby.

If you follow me on Facebook, you will know that I complained a great deal that I never received a calendar for Christmas this year. I was and still am heartbroken.

I like love to plan everything.

I love to have a schedule book with me at all times. I love calendars, paper, notepads, grocery list paper and whatever else I can write to be organized. I have so many crazy thoughts in a day that I just feel the need to remember them all! Actually, I even have a writing pad next to me as I’m writing this. (You laugh but this is a true story!)

Anyways, my mom always gets me a calendar and this year she didn’t. I don’t even know what to say about that. Except that I had to make my own…

Now this one is specifically for … Miles Baby, Miles

Even though I like to write, I don’t have the patience for drawing. Even if it’s a straight line…I don’t like to be too detailed in the artsy area. (Gasp! I know!)

I needed a little push, a little 1:1 so I’m counting weekly miles between me and hubby.

Who do you think will win?

Let’s just say this was enough push to get me off my tush and on Milly. (Because I’m just that creative with naming my treadmill and that sentence is hilarious. Come on now. )

My goal was three miles so I turned on my songs and went.

My inspirational song of the night: Suddenly I See by KT Tunstall

Why? Because this is what I wanted to be...

Look, I’m not sure why but the first five minutes are always the rough patch to get through. My legs tighten as if they don’t want to do what I ask. My warm up consists of thirty seconds jogging, followed by thirty seconds fast walking repeatedly until I get through five minutes. Then I up my pace.

I pretty much did a fast walk/jog through the three miles, but I did make it through!

Best part, my time included a 5 minute warm-up, which means roughly around 40 minutes to complete three miles. My first race clocked me in at 39 minutes and some seconds so I’m not that far behind. Especially since I took off a few months. Yes, months. (eeek!)

Best part of my day:

Amber: 3

Hubby: Zero!

After I ran, I shared my Miles Calendar with him. He now knows we are competing and is up for a healthy dose of Amber Challenge. The Tracking Miles are on!

Here’s one more tidbit – I have a secret coming up in February. A really good secret. I hope you stay with me to find out the news! What could it be? Oh, what could it be? Any guesses?

Do you have a system to keep track of your training? What do you use?

I love the competition you have going on! I wish my fiancé would run…but he just doesn’t. But I guess that just means I always win, hahah. Also, LOVE that song! I’ll listen to it on repeat over and over and over 🙂 So good!

Excited to be a part of your SITS tribe 🙂

Hi Amber! Thanks so much for your comment on my blog – very excited to be in your SITS tribe! I love the idea of competing with your husband. Mine would never go for it, so you are lucky! That’s such a great way to get yourself moving when you don’t want to. I also took month off, and just now feel like I’m back on track. I don’t have anyone to compete with, but writing it down and planning out my workouts has helped a ton! Anyway, glad to “meet” you and look forward to reading more!
