I love the season of giving, truly I do.
I just wish I had a crafty thumb, like some of you.
What looks right in my head, comes out as a mess instead.
This project was done right, I think it went fantastic tonight!
And BAM! not sure where that came from, but we are going with the flow and probably a little bit left from the wine-o.
(PS If you want to send this girl something for Christmas, I love red wine! wink. wink.)
I had the house to myself (rarely happens) so I called my girlfriend to come over to make some ornaments.
Apparently, they are snow globes, not to be confused with ornaments. But after a few glasses of wine, it turns into potato, po-tAt-o!
I’ve been pretty clear on my Facebook Page that I am not a crafter, so if I can do this (with some wine) then you can too! 😉
Supplies:
- Jar of choice
- Glitter
- Water
- Hot glue gun
- Plastic items to glue
First, I want to start you off with some TIPS. Because what I did, apparently had to be uhm, mended….
- Always use plastic items in your snow globe! Nothing that will fall apart or be damaged by the water
- I used a mason jar, I recommend NOT. Go in your refrigerator and use whatever jar you can find with one lid, that twists nicely into place. I had to glue the two piece mason jar lid, together and it still had some leakage
- Tall is better! I would have much rather had a taller glass so I can see the whole view, but this is just preference
- Less is best! We used 6-7 tsp of glitter and I had to throw it out. It was too much, USE LESS!
- Keep testing your items to make sure they all fit inside the jar. I had to trim a few branches to do so! You don’t want a beautiful display to find out it doesn’t fit!
Instructions:
1. Hot glue your plastic items to the inside of the lid
2. Place glitter and water in mason jar
3. Screw on the lid and your done. You may want to hot glue the lid. Yes, it was that simple.
Of course, enjoy the magic and beauty inside your snow globe!
It’s beautiful, easy and really does make a great DIY holiday gift!
We were thinking of making this into a snowman. Yes, being just a little bit more creative. Gluing them together, adding a scarf in the middle, some eyes , button nose, and a hat on top. Heck, who am I kidding. My presents are finished. 😉
But, I absolutely did love the touch of cranberries in the jar. The mix of green and red made the snow globe quite festive.
