First of all, (don’t shake your head at me) but I had to switch this weeks schedule around again. Instead of XT 30 and ER 3 miles I switched it to ER 4 miles, W 3 miles the next day. (If you have no clue what I’m talking about, see this weeks schedule here.) I have prior engagements this week and wanted to make sure I achieved my first four miles correctly.
I did say my first four miles! I was super stoked when I saw it coming up on the schedule last week. Totally stoked. I just wanted to see if I had it in me. If I could successfully complete four miles.
The first half mile was a breeze. It came and went and I was surprised that I didn’t think twice about running it. Must be the momentum to run the four miles kicking in.
After the half mile, came my Indian cuisine that I digested (kind of) for lunch and dinner. Sorry, there was no better way than saying that. Please put this on my “NO, NO List” that apparently I am working on. I will never have spicy food on run days ever again. It made my run a little, uhm, challenging.
Women’s Magazine calls for an ER or easy run. I have to be honest, I ran hard and I walk and I ran… I felt like if I was in some sort of timed run, it would have been all I had. I slowed down on the machine to 3.9 for a fast walk and guzzled water then moved it up to 4.5 when I was running. I had doubts, lots of doubts but I did it.
I was so proud of myself that I screamed a big, “YES!” and jumped up. When doing so, I pulled the emergency clip out of my belt and the machine turned down. My happiness turned quickly into a few bad words. All my stats weren’t saved but gone! Piece of crap. 🙂
I know it was at 55 minutes which I guess would be roughly 14 minutes / mile. Honestly, I don’t care. Four miles was my first achievement for the evening and I’m super proud of that!
Somehow turning on my Bob Marley seemed to cheer me up…
Let’s try that awesome 3 mile W tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it. Somehow I think this might hurt me a little. Just saying.
Congratulations on your first 4 miler! Pace doesn’t matter with distance training, as long as you’re not going too fast – it’s the time on your feet that you need to stay focused on. Speed comes with time. Have a goal of “To FINISH” and you always be successful! Best of luck with the rest of your training!
